AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as an attacking player. She also serves as the captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division for women's professional soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she co-captained the American women's national soccer team with Megan Rapinoe. [8][9] Morgan was selected number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she was able to graduate early from University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her professional debut with the club and assisted the team win the league championship. Morgan was 22, at the time was the youngest player of the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game at the 2012 London Olympics. She ended 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. Morgan was selected to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
